On Tuesday, October 15, Google will hold a special event in New York to showcase its latest news. The presentation will begin at 10 am (4 pm in Italy) and is rather expected because it will provide details on the Pixel 4, the new version of the smartphones designed and developed by Google that have enjoyed growing success in recent years. According to the forecasts of the main technology sites, during “Made by Google” various other innovations concerning both devices and software will be presented, starting with a faster and more powerful Google Assistant.

The two models will be similar in size to the current ones, so a smaller, pocket-sized model with a 5.5-inch screen and another a bit more bulky 6.3-inch screen.
The camera is expected to receive several updates, with the addition of a second optical zoom lens. For Pixel smartphones it will be the first time with two lenses, following a well-established trend among the most valuable mobile phones that have been equipped with multiple lenses for taking photographs for some years. Google had so far preferred to keep one only for its Pixels, working a lot on the software in order to make the rendering of the shots excellent (for several years the Pixel camera has received extremely positive reviews, and with the old models it has often beaten that of the iPhones in different conditions).
On the new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL there will be a system to unlock the screen via facial recognition, which as on the iPhone 11 should work from different angles, making it possible to use it even when the phone is placed on the table. The sensors on the front of the phone can also be used to perform some gestures in front of the screen, without having to touch it: for example, you can skip a song or silence a phone call.
A variant of the Pixel 4 could also be presented with a 5G receiver for next generation cellular networks, still under development and installation in much of the world.
Google Assistant
Last May, during its annual Google I / O conference, the company showed several innovations related to its automatic assistant, which works all inside smartphones and with various other devices, such as home speakers. The new version is able to perform more tasks, and above all to better understand the context of the conversations, for example by executing more orders based on the requests received previously.
Google has also worked to make its assistant much faster and more responsive, creating a version that for most of the basic activities (such as turning on the lights, adjusting a thermostat or replying to a message) does not need to connect to the Internet to work. . This local option should make it easier and less nerve-wracking to use the Google Assistant for several purposes.
Pixel Buds
Two years ago Google presented Pixel Buds, its first wireless earphones. They had not convinced everyone, especially for the difficulty of inserting them comfortably in the ears, reported by some users. The new version may have some design innovations to solve the problem and at the same time improve the sound performance, not always ideal according to some reviews.
Nest Mini
Google may also introduce a new version of its Google Home Mini, the smaller and cheaper version of its home speaker to use the Google Assistant. The new model will have the Nest brand, now adopted by Google to identify all the “smart” products for the home, which it produces through its holding company Alphabet. The new model should keep more or less the same design, with the addition of a system to hang it on the wall saving space.
Nest WiFi
Also with regard to devices for the home, Google could present a new version of Nest WiFi, the router system for accessing the Internet through wireless connections. It should consist of a main router, which acts as a base, to which smaller routers are added to extend WiFi coverage to more areas of the house. These satellite routers should also have a small speaker to use the Google Assistant.
Pixelbook Go
Google hasn't shown much interest in laptops made directly by its designers in recent years. The most recent Pixelbook is now a couple of years old and it was assumed that the company was no longer interested in the industry. Apparently things have moved instead, and on Tuesday Google is expected to unveil a new 13-inch laptop called the Pixelbook Go.
