Instagram, the popular app for sharing photos and videos, has added a new mode to its Stories: it's called Portrait and allows you to take photos of people's faces (or yourself) so that the faces are in focus and the background is blurred. . It is a similar mode to that already present in the cameras of iPhones and some other recent smartphones that use the Android system. The Portrait function (which in English is called “Focus”) can only be activated in the Stories and is between the Superzoom function (which makes those strange noises) and the Rewind function (which plays back the recorded videos).
The Portrait function takes advantage of the effect known as Bokeh, a Japanese term that means blur: it can also be used with more than one subject and even when recording videos. The version of Instagram containing the necessary update is 39.0.
