WhatsApp: how to have two accounts on the same mobile

WhatsApp, unlike Instagram or Telegram, only allows you to add one account per smartphone. It is a very annoying limitation for those users who have two SIM cards in the same device and need both lines to have a connection to the messaging app owned by Meta. Fortunately, and while we wait for the company to launch a similar function for its app, there are alternatives that can be very useful for using two WhatsApp accounts on the same mobile. All of them are also free and completely safe.

If you have an Android smartphone, using two WhatsApp accounts on the same device is a very simple process, since you can use the application duplication function of your mobile. This feature is available on Samsung Galaxy terminals, where it is called 'Dual Messaging', but it can also be applied to Xiaomi, Realme, Huawei, Honor and other manufacturers' devices. App mirroring, as the name suggests, creates a second copy of the app on the same system. It is fully functional, and is usually distinguished by a small badge on one of the edges of the icon.

To activate the duplication of apps and have two WhatsApp applications —and therefore, two accounts on the same mobile— it is necessary to access the system settings. Then go to the section called 'Dual Apps' or the one with a similar name: 'Application Cloner', 'Dual Messaging', etc.

If you have a Xiaomi smartphone in which you want two WhatsApp accounts and the option does not appear, try the following steps.

Make a backup of WhatsApp.Uninstall the WhatsApp application and reinstall it from the Google Play Store. On the installation screen, click on the button that says 'Dual applications'. Activate the option to install a second WhatsApp app. Finally, access the duplicate app and log in with the new number. It is best to register the secondary number in the cloned app, and the primary number in the main application.

If your mobile does not include the dual application option, you can use a third-party app that performs the same action. Dual Space is free and very easy to use. You just have to install it, accept the terms, set the permissions and click on WhatsApp. It will automatically open a new version in which you can log in.

How to put two WhatsApp numbers on an Android or iPhone with WhatsApp Business

On iPhones it is not possible to use any application duplication function to have two WhatsApp numbers, despite the fact that from iPhone Xs it is possible to include two SIM cards: one physical and one virtual. In this case, the only option is to use the business-focused version of the messaging app. Option that, in fact, can also be useful for Android phones that do not have application cloning. WhatsApp Business is somewhat different in terms of functions, but it also allows you to send and reply to messages, make calls and video calls, or join groups.

To have two accounts on the same mobile thanks to WhatsApp Business, you must download the application from the App Store or Google Play. Then click on 'Accept and continue'. The app will ask you if you want to use your current number to sign in to WhatsApp Business. As it is best to set the secondary number for this version, you must click on 'Use a different number'. Now, enter the phone number and click on the 'Ok' button that appears on the upper area of the screen, you may be asked to confirm the action. Finally, include the code that you received by SMS.

Now, you just have to add the profile data. If the secondary number is for managing your business, you can include the business name. If not, please enter your name. In 'Company category', click on the option that says 'It is not a business'. Finally, click on the 'Next' button. that appears at the top of the screen, the session will start and you will be able to chat normally.
