XGIMI Horizon Pro 4k is the new flagship of XGIMI. Quality and price have risen considerably, is it still worth buying it?

Another notable improvement is in brightness. Horizon Pro achieves 2200 ANSI Lumens, while H2 only settles at 1350, an increase of over 60%.
These two upgrades result in vastly superior image quality in literally any respect and in any context. There remains the problem of the lack of official Netflix certification. Unofficially, however, it is possible to use this APK or this simple guide to make up for the lack.
The price of Horizon Pro has risen to € 1699 (the basic FHD version costs € 1099 instead), but this should not surprise us because the video and audio quality has improved significantly. It may seem expensive for a newbie, but it’s a reasonable price for a product of this level. As far as I’m concerned, it’s worth every single euro spent.

Let’s go and discover Horizon Pro in more detail. First of all, I must underline the care and safety with which the product is shipped by XGIMI, avoiding any possibility of damage during shipping.
Opening the box we find the Horizon Pro projector, the new remote control, and the power supply (we are not talking about a portable projector as in the case of XGIMI Halo). The realization of the remote control is in metal with a very modern design and has only mechanical keys unfortunately not backlit. There is also a big lack of the mute button. Inside it integrates a microphone to be able to use Google Assistant. The remote control is not equipped with batteries, with 1699 euros a couple could give it to us.
The first complete switch-on of the projector will take about 15 seconds (from standby there are 6) and we will necessarily have to connect our Google account, so as to be able to take advantage of all the features of AndroidTV 10.
In the dimensions Horizon Pro (208 x 218 x 136 mm and 2.9 kg) it is substantial, but this does not undermine its portability. Thanks to this and its integrated audio system, we are talking about a device that can be considered plug-and-play in terms of ease of installation and use.
On the upper side, we find the buttons to control video playback, personally never used if not to test them, while on the back the classic interface for connections. On the bottom instead, there is the hole for the tripod, also not available in the package. The entrance is standard, so you can use the one sold by XGIMI or whatever you prefer.
What is the hardware equipment?
XGIMI Horizon Pro is equipped with a MediaTek MT9612 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of memory, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and 8W speakers, all cooled by rather silent fans that do not disturb the vision. If, on the other hand, you don’t want to go into something complex, just know that the Horizon Pro CPU has always proved to be up to every task assigned to it, the system is fluid and does not suffer from slowdowns.
Inside XGIMI Horizon Pro we also find some specific hardware components that serve to automate the video rendering, the very fast focus, the brightness of the lens, and the positioning of the image. The only thing you will have to do will be to point the image towards the projection sheet (whose use I highly recommend) … or towards the wall.
DO YOU SEE WELL?
Yes, a lot. The image size can range from 40 to 300 inches depending on the distance. When the lights are turned off, the cinema effect is immediate, a sensation that the TV simply cannot convey. The 2200 ANSI Lumens in this case are perfect. The same cannot be said if we use the projector during the day, here the brightness is just sufficient and it will be necessary to minimize the ambient lighting.
In the settings, there is an option that allows you to manually change the color rendering and many other video settings, in case you are not satisfied with the automation and you know which parameters to change. The video quality is excellent, thanks also to the X-Vue 2.0 technology that makes the colors more realistic and the image sharper and more defined. Also, present HDR and MEMC to better manage light effects and fluidity. Latency times are low (35ms) and therefore Horizon Pro is absolutely suitable for gaming.
Last note, that of the audio: the 8W speakers are very powerful and the sound quality is excellent. It is possible to use it as a Bluetooth speaker, and it performs this task satisfactorily, like a product of one or more hundreds of euros. DTS and Dolby technology is supported to further enhance sound output.
FINAL VERDICT I really liked XGIMI Horizon Pro. I realize that the cost may seem prohibitive, but the splendid video and audio quality fully justify it. Perfect for newbies as many procedures to improve video rendering is automated, you don’t have to worry about a thing. Projection screen, lights off, a pack of popcorn and in an instant, you will feel like you are at the cinema, an absolutely magnificent experience.
