Although smartphone manufacturers, nowadays, are increasingly competing to gain an important slice of the top-of-the-range market, fortunately there are those who have not given up fighting within the low-end, which nowadays 'today is no longer synonymous with poor quality.
Redmi 7A is the classic example of low cost smartphone, with the price among the lowest in the category, which manages to offer a complete Android experience. Here are our first impressions.
First of all, when the sales package is opened, there is a totally “new” feeling. Or rather, the charm of lightness is rediscovered, considering its weight grams, now a utopian figure compared to the current panorama, which has particularly heavy terminals, which sometimes are around 180/190 grams, and in some cases even more.
Yet, Redmi 7A does not give up at all to a 5.45-inch display, with HD resolution. The side frames are really well optimized, the upper and lower ones a little less, even if overall the aesthetics do not mind at all.
Not even that “toy” effect that you have when you hold it in your hand, given above all by the plastic materials that are not too precious, but which in any case perfectly marry the philosophy of the device, do not mind.
It is cheap, and therefore suitable for an audience of young people who appear on this stage for the first time, but who will have to keep an eye on even the most experienced who are looking for a forklift to take with them if necessary.
At the level of technical characteristics, it offers the Snapdragon SDM439 processor, Octa Core, flanked by 2GB RAM and 32 GB of integrated memory (on the product sheet it reports only 16). The data sheet is not bad and you look at the processor, while the 2 GB of RAM appear a bit dated.
In fact, since the first use we have noticed a certain difficulty when trying to open numerous applications in the background, as well as slower web browsing becomes when the open Google tabs are 3 or 4.
In short, the limits are there, but if we exclude these natural bottlenecks related to RAM, the terminal performs well in the management of all the basic apps, from emails, to messaging, from phone calls to social networks.
Technical features
The absence of any fingerprint reader is felt a little, even if the unlocking system via Face ID is present, using the front camera. Of course it cannot reach the standards of the latest OnePlus or Xiaomi Mi, but it certainly works better than all that series of low-cost terminals of less famous brands.
At first glance we also notice that the display brightness is not too high, which could cause some readability problems under direct sunlight, even if overall we have nothing to complain about the general quality of the screen.
We are still talking about a terminal that is about 80 euros, and manages to offer pleasant colors, with rather wide viewing angles: in short, a movie on Netflix, rather than a TV series, or a short video on You can watch Youtube absolutely without problems, with really good audio.
We refer to an in-depth review for details on this terminal. The first impressions are simple: it is the smartphone to bet on to give it to a kid who faces this world for the first time. Or why not, this is the perfect forklift for those who need a second phone, also in consideration of the 4000 mAh battery, which we are ready to bet will do wonders on an HD screen with Snapdraon 439 processor.
