YouTube has decided to satisfy one of the major requests that came to it from its creators. The video sharing platform is making it possible for creators to change the name and profile picture of their channels without changing their profile Google. Creators will then be able to update their channel name and image within YouTube, and these changes will have a impact on that profile only .
Until now, to do this, creators had to change their name and the icon of the Google account as well . This didn't make much sense from a branding or professional perspective, and the new system should offer a little more flexibility for creators who may prefer to send emails with their actual name rather than their channel name. However, the new feature will have a drawback : creators with a verification badge will lose it, and will have to apply to YouTube to receive the badge again.
Both personal and brand accounts will be able to use the new channel name change feature. To do this, you will need to access the Personalization section from YouTube Studio in the desktop version, where you will find the Basic Information and Branding tabs. On mobile , it will be necessary to touch the profile photo, then the channel, and finally select “Edit channel”.
