YouTube Music coming to some smartwatches with Wear OS 2

29 Since Google discontinued its Play Music service, there hasn't been an official way to listen to music on Wear OS smartwatches. In May, the company revealed that it was working on a YouTube Music app for the platform, but it was later confirmed that the app would only be supported by watches with Wear OS 3.0, of which there is currently only one. , the Galaxy Watch 4.

Thankfully, Google has now retraced its steps by eliminating this requirement. “Starting this week,” wrote Google in a support post, “we are launching the new YouTube Music app to select Wear OS 2 devices, including Fossil and Michael Kors' new Gen 6 smartwatches and TicWatch Pro 3 GPS. Mobvoi, TicWatch Smartwatch Pro 3 Cellular / LTE and TicWatch E3 to listen to music anywhere. With YouTube Music, you can download songs to your watch and listen to music offline.

For now, only the watches mentioned above are supported but Google says which will also arrive on “more devices running the latest version of Wear OS 2 by the end of the year”. It's unclear what the criteria for watch support are, but all smartwatches currently listed have a Snapdragon Wear 4100 or 4100+ processor.
