In a lengthy blog post, YouTube explained how it intends to improve its Shorts feature by offering new ways for creators to monetize their videos, and, in general, talked about the features that will arrive on the platform throughout 2022.
First of all, new functions related to Shorts are coming, such as new effects and the ability to reply to a comment with a video Short (as happens for example on TikTok). In addition to this, new methods will come to monetize content, introducing the SuperChat in Shorts and the possibility of buying a product starting from a video. Lastly, the company said it was working to find new ways to include shopping features on the platform.
News is also coming for YouTube Studio, which will soon include new tools to understand how viewers interact with a video. Content creators will soon go live together and the option to gift channel subscriptions will soon come. The integration between TV and mobile app will also improve : soon, in fact, it will be possible to write a comment directly from the smartphone while a video is playing on the television (provided that both devices have login with the same account). The YouTube TV app will also receive a new design , which will make it easier to use content.
All these innovations will be released during the course of 2022.
